Decrease Arthritis Discomfort, Enhance Sleep Quality, and Boost Brain Health by Consuming This Fruit Juice.

If you’re seeking a natural way to alleviate joint pain, improve sleep, or enhance memory, research suggests that a particular type of juice with natural chemicals and anti-inflammatory effects may be beneficial.

For some time now, tart cherry juice has been recognized for providing these advantages. Recent research conducted in England indicates that its antioxidants can also help reduce blood pressure.

Researchers attribute the ability to achieve these benefits to the unique combination of natural inflammation-fighting substances present in tart cherry juice.

A study at Oregon Health & Science University reveals that tart cherry juice can help manage persistent inflammation and potentially alleviate the painful joint symptoms of arthritis.

In a study involving twenty women aged 40 to 70 with inflammatory arthritis, results from Oregon tests show that consuming tart cherry juice twice daily for three weeks significantly decreases pain and inflammation markers.1

Researcher Kerry Kuehl remarks, "With a large number of Americans seeking natural pain management solutions, the potential of tart cherries to help without the typical side effects of arthritis medications is promising. I am intrigued by the potential of real food to provide such a potent anti-inflammatory benefit, especially for active adults."

In addition to arthritis relief, Dr. Kuehl’s research also shows that long-distance runners, such as marathon trainees, experience reduced pain and soreness after running when consuming tart cherry juice.2

Furthermore, studies at Marshall University in West Virginia demonstrate that tart cherry juice can help alleviate muscle and joint pain associated with aromatase inhibitors taken by many women with breast cancer to reduce the cancer's recurrence risk after initial treatment.

In this study, consuming an ounce of tart cherry juice concentrate dissolved in eight ounces of water once a day led to a 35% reduction in pain.3

Overview

Researchers at Louisiana State University have discovered that in addition to its pain-relieving properties, tart cherry juice can aid individuals with insomnia in falling asleep more easily.4 The Louisiana scientists attribute the sleep-inducing effects of the juice to its anti-inflammatory properties and melatonin content, although they are unable to fully explain the mechanisms by which these natural chemicals impact the body.

In their experiments, they found that consuming two eight-ounce glasses of tart cherry juice daily for a week helped individuals with insomnia sleep an average of more than 80 additional minutes per night – an impressive outcome.

Heart Support

Tart cherries are beneficial for the heart health of individuals with metabolic syndrome, a condition characterized by excess weight around the midsection, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and elevated blood sugar – often a precursor to diabetes.

In a study conducted in England, researchers observed that individuals with metabolic syndrome who consumed tart cherry juice for just two weeks experienced reduced systolic blood pressure and lower insulin levels.5

Researcher Terun Desai states, "Global rates of metabolic syndrome are increasing, and the outcomes of this study suggest that Montmorency tart cherries, whether in juice or capsule form, could have positive effects for adults with this condition when incorporated into a healthy diet."

In addition to these benefits, studies at the University of Delaware suggest that tart cherry juice may enhance brain function. Participants in their 60s and 70s who consumed 16 ounces of juice daily for three months exhibited improved performance on cognitive tests and enhanced memory.9

All these effects of tart cherries appear to stem from the natural substances present in the cherries and their juice that help reduce inflammation – a key factor in the chronic diseases and pain that commonly afflict individuals, particularly as they age.

As the Delaware scientists conclude regarding the brain enhancements observed, "This may be attributed to the antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties of tart cherry and its ability to lower blood pressure."

It is crucial to remember that there are various methods to reduce inflammation – consuming less processed food, reducing sugar intake, and maintaining regular exercise can all be beneficial. Drinking tart cherry juice can also aid in reducing inflammation.

However, it is important to note that another publication, Cancer Defeated, has recently uncovered evidence suggesting that fruit juices, due to their high sugar content, may be as detrimental as sodas.

While whole fruit is preferable, it may not be practical in this context. Consider exploring the tart cherry supplements mentioned earlier as an alternative.
